FR4, G10 and G11 epoxy-glass sheet compared

FR4, G10 and G11 are epoxy-resin laminates reinforced with woven glass cloth. In the NEMA grade system, G10 is the base epoxy-glass grade, FR4 is its flame-retardant version, and G11 is the higher-temperature grade. All three are supplied as sheet in 300 × 300, 300 × 400 and 1000 × 1000 mm, or cut to size.

The three grades

G10

Epoxy resin on woven glass cloth — the base grade of the family. Supplied for insulation panels, spacers, barriers and fixtures.

FR4

The flame-retardant version of G10; "FR" stands for flame retardant. Supplied for electrical insulation panels, spacers, barriers and machined parts.

G11

An epoxy-glass grade with a higher temperature rating than G10 and FR4. Supplied for insulation parts exposed to elevated heat and mechanical load.

Formats

Standard sheets are 300 × 300 mm, 300 × 400 mm and 1000 × 1000 mm. Other sizes, and parts cut or machined to drawing, are quoted on request.

Frequently asked

What is the difference between FR4 and G10?

Both are epoxy resin on woven glass cloth. FR4 is the flame-retardant version of G10.

What thermal class is G11?

The G11 sheet supplied here is rated Class H, 180 °C. FR4 and G10 are rated Class B, 130 °C.

What sheet sizes are available?

300 × 300 mm, 300 × 400 mm and 1000 × 1000 mm, plus custom sizes.

Can FRP sheet be cut to a drawing?
